I have no issues with windows anyway so I find them both reliable. So a pc saves me about $270-310 since I got the Win 10 licenses from school and I can fix/replace parts when needed while the mac replace cost is expensive. The internal drives don't really matter since they can be just attached as an external drive.

My windows license was free since I got it from school but with windows license would be about $550. For case, motherboard, cpu, ssd, power supply cost $430 or 390 if I just went with 8gb of ram, while the mac mini is $699. But my issue is that moment something breaks on the mac mini and you have to replace the whole system or have a big bill from apple to fix it while on the pc I can just replace the individual part. I built a pc in November of 2020, basically i3-10100, with 16gb 3200 ddr4, 250 boot ssd, 1tb drive for scratch data and 4tb drive for plex. Use my laptop until either pc parts are readily available OR the new iMac comes out.

Pick up a series x later this year or next and continue using the x1x.

I will give the console to my wife who plays on an x1s currently and give her my 1.5yr old gaming laptop (Lenovo legion).Ģ) Keep the M1 Mac. I used to build PC's some years back and I think building my sons recently sparked that interest back up.ġ) Finish the PC build which will replace needing both a lesser desktop and a console (currently x1x). I also like the integration with my other apple devices, being able to send and receive messages right from the desktop has its conveniences. I really like the energy usage aspect of it, this thing uses minimal power even when playing WoW or CS:GO. I went ahead and bought an m1 mini when Costco had them on sale and really have no issues with it. I bought parts for a new Ryzen 5600x build and haven't been able to get a 3060ti/3070 or a used card at a decent price.
